JLARF Staff Positions and Roles:

  • Editor-in-chief

    The most senior editor, responsible for the journal’s overall strategy, quality, and future direction. They make decisions about content, contributors, and topics for future issues. 

  • Associate editor

    Assists the editor-in-chief by managing the review process for specific topics or groups of articles. 

  • Section editor

    Manages the review and evaluation process for articles related to their section. 

  • Language editor

    Reviews the language quality of articles, correcting grammar and writing issues. 

  • Ethics editor

    Oversees compliance with ethical standards, manages plagiarism checks, and reports on ethical issues. 

  • Digital platforms manager

    Ensures the proper functioning of the journal management system, and manages DOI assignments. 

  • Managing editor

    Collects publishing agreements from contributors, and gathers all article components before releasing manuscripts to production. 

  • Production editor

    Ensures a manuscript is production-ready before release to composition. 

  • Compositor

    Typesets the text into page proofs, and coordinates page proof review. 

Other roles in an academic journal include peer-reviewers, advisors, and volunteer editors.
