Submission Guidelines. for Undergraduates

Originality of the work: Manuscripts should be entirely original and solely authored by undergraduate students. Co-authorship with faculty advisors is allowed, only if the primary author is an undergraduate student

Formatting requirements: if you are keen to submit in any of the presented formats in our website, JLARF is proud to be your voice in the academia! But some basic grounds must be executed in order to be amongst our freshly voiced writers.

1.Contributors must submit manuscripts based on the guidelines provided in the Author’s Guideline section (https://jlarf.com/author-guidelines/).

2. Contributors should submit their paper in both .docx and .PDF formats through the Submission section (https://jlarf.com/submission-rules-and-agreements/)

3. Contributors will upload their manuscripts in the sections provided in submission section separately.

4. We highly recommend that contributors indicate the number of words at the end of their article to ever so slightly facilitate the blind review process.

Submission process: You can upload your manuscript in the submission portal, then you will receive an email from JLARF acknowledging the r. You can also track the stages of your manuscript review in your personal JLARF account.

Review process: All manuscripts go through a two-step review process:

1- Internal Review: The editors first review each manuscript to see if it fits the scope and aim of the journal/issue, which green lights your manuscript for an external review. Manuscripts that do not meet the requirements are not sent out for further review. This review process generally takes about 2 or 3 weeks. .

2.External Review: After the acceptation on the internal review, the paper would be sent out for a double-anonymous peer review by two experts in the field. The external review takes approximately 3 months. Following the external review, the authors are sent copies of the external reviewers’ comments and are notified as to the decision. (ACCEPT, minor revision, major revision, or reject)

When evaluating a manuscript for application reviewers generally consider the following factors:

    • It appeals to the interests of JLARF’s audience.
    • It must be either theoretical or practical (that is practical articles must be anchored in theory, and theoretical articles and reports of research must contain a substantial discussion of implications or applications for actual practice.)
    • It offers a new, innovative and original insight or interpretation and not just a redundant chunk of information.
    • It makes a unique (practical, useful, plausible) contribution to the field.
    • It reflects an academic research design with appropriate, correctly interpreted references to other authors and works and its conclusions are justified.
    • It must be revised, organized and conforms to the specifications of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association [APA] (7th ed.).
  •

Support for Authors: we know that most of the young contributors might be blank or vague on the subject of how to apply their papers for an academic journal. Fortunately, JLARF provides the following extra supports for the prospective authors in their delicate evolution;

    1. Mentorship from experienced researchers and faculty members.
    2. Webinars on academic writing, research ABCs and the publication process.
    3. Feedback from peer reviewers aimed at developing the quality of submissions.
  1.

As planned, the First Volume of JLARF FIRST issue will be available to audiences (open access) by July 2025 with  the release of the first volume.

We invite those with a propensity for scholarly  research in the field of language assessment, research, or otherwise related fields to get on-board with JLARF’s mission to make a change in the realm of research journals!

We know it is a bold claim, but with your help, we are certain to do just that!
